Chris Saunders

Chris has over 13 years experience in Energy Management having worked for Actaris Metering Systems, formerly Schlumberger, the global leader in design, manufacture and supply of electricity, gas, water and heat meters and related systems and services.

Chris held the role of Managing Director of the Electricity Metering & Systems Division from January 2004 through to December 2007, a division with an approximate annual revenue of €350M, employing over 3,000 people worldwide.

Chris was Managing Director of the Actaris Gas Metering Division from November 2001 through to January 2004.

In both roles, Chris had full business responsibility for all company activities including, global sales and distribution, manufacturing in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and Middle East, Research and Development investment and driving the strategic direction and business evolution of the organisation in a rapidly changing global utility marketplace.

Chris is currently President of BEAMA, the "British Electrotechnical and Allied Manufacturers' Association" Founded in 1905, that currently represents some 350 companies, operating in an industry with a turnover of £13 billion a year and employing over 137,000 people.

Chris Shelley

Chris has over 15 years experience in Energy Management having worked for Itron Inc, the world’s largest metering supplier, formerly Actaris Metering Systems and Schlumberger for 12 years, and prior to that for a technical design consultancy.

Chris held the role of Actaris’ Systems and Services Business Manager, a role that combined the development, operation and commercial promotion of Itrons’s energy management systems portfolio within the territory outside North America (Europe, Middle East, Africa and South America).

Chris was General Manager of Actaris’ UK operations from 2004 to 2007 and in that role had responsibility for Actaris’ commercial and operational activities in the UK.

From 1996 to 2007 Chris was also heavily involved in Actaris’ Research and Development team, having responsibility for the UK research and development team from 2002 to 2004 and having overall responsibility for all Actaris’ global residential electricity meter research and development from 2004 to 2007.

In his R&D role, Chris has been involved in many projects in all types of metering, including Electricity, Gas and Water, and on products ranging from basic functionality through to complex smart meters along with the IT systems that sit behind them.
